Export Contacts From Popular Tools (Step-by-Step Guide)

This guide shows you how to export your contacts from common tools (Gmail, iCloud, Outlook, and Mailchimp) so you can bring them into Segwik faster and start using your contact list right away.

Before You Export (Quick Tips)
  • Exporting creates a file on your computer (usually CSV or vCard).
  • CSV is best for spreadsheets and importing.
  • vCard (.vcf) is best for phone/contact apps.
If you’re not sure which format to choose, pick CSV.
Export from Gmail (Google Contacts)

Gmail contacts are exported from Google Contacts.

Google CSV Outlook CSV vCard (.vcf)
  • Go to contacts.google.com and sign in.
  • On the left, click Export.
  • Choose which contacts you want (all contacts or a label).
  • Select a format (Google CSV / Outlook CSV / vCard).
  • Click Export to download the file.

Most people should choose Google CSV or Outlook CSV.

Export from iCloud Contacts

iCloud exports contacts as a vCard (.vcf).

vCard (.vcf)
  • Go to icloud.com/contacts and sign in.
  • Select the contacts you want (or select all).
  • Click the Actions / gear icon.
  • Choose Export vCard.
  • Save the .vcf file.
If you need CSV format, export the vCard first—then convert it to CSV using a trusted converter.
Export from Outlook

Outlook exports contacts as a CSV using the export wizard.

CSV
  • Open Outlook (classic desktop app).
  • Click FileOpen & ExportImport/Export.
  • Select Export to a file → click Next.
  • Select Comma Separated Values (CSV) → click Next.
  • Choose your Contacts folder.
  • Select where to save the file and name it.
  • Click Finish.
Export from Mailchimp

Mailchimp exports contacts from your Audience as a CSV.

CSV
  • In Mailchimp, click Audience.
  • Select the Audience you want (if you have more than one).
  • Click Export audience (or export a segment/tag).
  • Click Export CSV.
  • Download the export when it becomes available.
Exports can take a few minutes. Start it once, then wait for the file.
Common Export Problems (And Easy Fixes)
  • Wrong format: If import fails, export again and choose CSV.
  • Missing names: Some tools only store email. You can still import.
  • Duplicates: It’s common. Most systems detect duplicates automatically.
  • Multiple lists: Keep files separate until you’re ready to combine them.
